Welcome Summer with a cup of Newport's Finest

Nothing says New England like a good ole’ fashioned cup of Clam Chowder! Well, if you happen to be in Newport on June 1^st, you’re in luck. The 32^nd Polar Seltzer Great Chowder Cook-Off is taking place! This legendary event has been featured on the Food Network and Travel Channel. Newport does it right in celebrating the beginning of summer with the countries longest running chowder championship. Visitors can enjoy endless samples from an abundance of competitors. Who doesn’t love good chowder? Spectators and tasters of all ages are welcome with live music, bars, and activities for the kids all in one place. Sponsors from around Newport and nearby will be hosting events as well, so if you need a break from all the delicious clam chowder, then leave some room for the Oyster Festival, which will be near by at the Newport Yachting Center on America’s Cup Avenue. Newport’s best local shellfish and seafood are displayed in a farmer’s market style. This is all in the makings for a beautiful June afternoon. Finish your fun day off with a cocktail over looking Newport Harbor at sunset. So cheers! Enjoy that all Newport has to offer and here’s to a wonderful summer.
